March 09, 2007 The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) will implement new procedures affecting the transportation of US domestic and export air freight shipments on March 12th 2007. * All export and domestic air freight shipments will be subject to random inspections. This may include the physical examination of the shipments' contents. You may receive a call during the normal screening process to verify the contents of the shipment, especially where the contents of the shipment cannot be screened with conventional methods. * All air freight shipper representatives will be required to present a government issued photo ID to our drivers or authorized representatives at time of pick up. We will record certain information from this ID on a form and are required to keep it on file per TSA regulations. We will not require a photocopy of the ID. In case the air freight shipper representative does not have a government issued photo ID available, the TSA will require that two other forms of identification (one of them government issued) be presented and recorded at that time. Please contact us should you have any questions about these new procedures. We apologize for the short notice. Kind regards, Unitrans International Corporation Los Angeles 310/410-7676 San Francisco 650/588-1233 |

May 24th 2004 A few weeks ago Unitrans International Corporation (UIC) together with our client planned, coordinated and successfully moved a large pressure vessel from California to Spain. This included not only arranging for ground transportation, special permits, heavylift cranes but also the chartering of an Antonov AN-124 cargo aircraft. The AN-124 was originally designed and built in the Soviet Union to ferry tanks to Afghanistan. It is now primarily used to move oversized cargo that cannot be moved by ocean. The pressure vessel was the highest ever piece loaded onto the AN-124 aircraft and weighed approximately 75 metric tons. Clearance from the top of the vessel to the aircraft roof was about 2 inches. Unitrans staff managed this project and successfully delivered the shipment on time. If you would like to know more about our experience in the handling of extraordinary shipments please call us at 310 410 7676 Photographs: Reactor on truck
