Incoterms

Incoterms are a codification of international rules for the uniform interpretation of common contract clauses in export/import transactions. The table below displays the responsibility of the seller and buyer for each trade term.

Notes:

Always name point (e.g. FOB Long Beach). C Group terms are NOT arrival contracts, i.e. risk of loss/damage fall upon the buyer (seller fulfills contract in the country of shipment)! PSI (Pre-Shipment-Inspection) cost always to be borne by the consignee (unless mandatory rule applicable to exports in shipper's country). Export Licenses responsibility of the shipper (Incoterms do exempt EXW clause, but this is not recommended in the U.S. and its laws).
